Bits of Quaint things and some Goofing off.

So my sisters and I went to Galveston for the day because I was feeling the need to photograph. Now, this doesn't always mean I'll get something good, I just felt like using my camera somewhere other than my backyard. I captured my sisters being goofy and just some random things that caught my eye. The 2 posts following this one were from the same day.

A moment of self portraiture. January 2010.

I tried on my sister's nifty glasses and tried to act all cool. I think it's easier to look good in pictures you take of yourself, because you know your good side. :)

Galveston in Black and White. January 2010.

I love the look of black and white photography, but I think there is an obvious difference between the masters and amateurs like me. My black and white images typically start out in color and I have a hard time deciding whether an image would look better in black and white or not. I thought I'd give it a shot and see how they turned out. They're not my favorite, but they're not bad. This first image is an old beach house that was torn up by hurricane Ike. It's barely in the shot, but there is an old pick up truck wedged on the dock part that connects it to the street. It's as though the winds picked up the truck and dropped it on the wood dock. So sad.

The last of my Drive By Shooting. January 2010.

I have decided I am finished with drive by shooting. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I think I want to move on to something different. As soon as I figure out what that is, I'll let you know. Here are the final 3 images from that series. I may pick it back up some day--- for now it is retired.
